Dear Matthew,

I have recently received your very generous letter a couple of weeks ago, letting me know your decision to leave the membership of the City of London Sinfonia, for your wonderful new job as Head of Strings at Wells Cathedral School.

I am absolutely thrilled for you that you have this job, but of course sad for the CLS as you have been such an integral personality for so long. I shall miss working with you hugely and will certainly keep your offer in mind to come in from time to time. I would love that.
